Newborn photography, in the comfort of your own home
No studio. No stress. Just your family, your baby, and the light in your own lounge room.
Those first weeks with a newborn are a blur of feeds, naps and tiny details you swear you'll remember forever — and then somehow don't. The curl of a hand around your finger. The flaky newborn skin. How impossibly small they look in their dad's arms. An in-home newborn session captures all of it, exactly where your story is actually happening.
I'm Deep, a dad of two based in South-East Melbourne, and I photograph newborns in their own homes across Frankston, Chelsea, Seaford, Langwarrin, Mt Eliza and the surrounding suburbs. My style is gentle and documentary — real moments over stiff poses, warm honest images over heavy filters.

Why in-home newborn photography?
Because packing up a days-old baby, a nappy bag and two exhausted parents to drive to a studio is nobody's idea of a good morning. At home, everything you need is within reach — the change table, the feeding chair, the kettle. Your baby stays settled in a familiar space, and you get to be comfortable in your own environment.
It also makes the photos yours. The nursery you spent months putting together. Your bed, where the whole family piles in at 6am. These backdrops mean something now, and they'll mean even more in twenty years.
When should you book?
Newborn sessions happen any time within the first 4 weeks after birth. There's no need to rush it into the first few days — that window gives us plenty of flexibility to work around your recovery, feeding routines and how you're all travelling.
Most families book while they're still pregnant, usually in the second or third trimester. I pencil in a tentative date around your due date, then we confirm once your baby arrives. If bub comes early or fashionably late, the date simply moves with them.
What to expect on the day
- 1.5 to 2 relaxed hours at your place — no rushing, no rigid shot list.
- Everything at your baby's pace. Feeds, cuddles and settling breaks are built in, not squeezed around.
- Natural light only. I work with the light from your windows — usually a bedroom, the couch and the nursery.
- The whole family welcome. Toddlers, pets, grandparents — the more of your real life in the frame, the better.
- No need to tidy up. I only need two or three corners of your home. The rest can look like a house with a newborn in it, because it is one.
