Not every season needs the full production. Sometimes you just want the family photos brought up to date — the kids as they are right now, before they grow out of this version of themselves. That's exactly what a Glimpse session is for: a short, focused shoot that fits into a busy week and still gives you images you'll love for decades.

I'm Deep, a dad of two based in South-East Melbourne. Glimpse sessions (you might know them as mini sessions) get the same documentary-style approach as my longer sittings — gentle prompts, real laughs, no stiff posing — just in a smaller, sharper package.

What's in a Glimpse?

• 30 minutes of relaxed shooting — short enough to hold even a toddler's attention.
• 10 fully edited images, hand-picked from the session and delivered through a private online gallery within 2 weeks.
• One location, one setup — your home, a favourite park, or a spot like George Pentland Gardens in Frankston.
• The option to extend. Love the full set? You can add on the extended gallery after the session.

Who Glimpse suits best

• Families due for an update. If the newest framed photo in your house is two kids ago, a Glimpse fixes that in half an hour.
• Milestones. First birthdays, a new sibling on the way, the last term of kinder — small moments worth marking.
• Gifts. A Glimpse session voucher is a genuinely useful present for grandparents, new parents or the friend who's always behind the camera.
• First-timers. Not sure how your crew will handle a photographer? A Glimpse is a low-pressure way to find out (spoiler: they'll be fine).

Where Glimpse sits

Sessions are grouped by how much time you want together, and Glimpse is the shortest of the three. It's a highlight reel rather than the whole story — one location, one setup, in and out inside half an hour.

If you'd like the slower version — more rooms, outfit changes, time for everyone to properly warm up — Golden gives you an hour and 20 images, and Gathered stretches to 90 minutes with 30+ images and no restrictions. Loved your Glimpse and want the rest? You can upgrade to the full gallery after the session, so nothing is lost by starting small.
