Golden is the session most families book. It's a full hour — in your home or somewhere you love — and it stretches to cover whichever season you're in. Family photography is the heart of it, but the same hour works just as well for a maternity sitting while you wait, a newborn session once they've arrived, or a first-birthday cake smash. Same time, same 20 images, different chapter.

Every stage of family life arrives quietly and leaves before you're ready. The toddler who insists on the same bedtime book every night. The baby who's suddenly not a baby anymore. The way your kids pile onto the couch on a Sunday morning. A Golden session documents whatever season you're in — not a stiff, matching-outfits version of it, but the real one.

I'm Deep, a dad of two based in South-East Melbourne. My approach is documentary-style: I give gentle direction where it helps, then step back and photograph your family being your family. The result is a gallery of warm, honest images that actually feel like your life.

One hour, whichever season you're in

Golden isn't tied to one kind of session. Book the hour, and we use it for wherever your family is right now:

• Family sessions — the whole crew as you are today, at home or outdoors. The most common way people use the hour.
• Maternity sessions — the last stretch before everything changes, usually somewhere with good light and room to move.
• Newborn sessions — a shorter, gentler sitting in the first weeks, if you'd rather not book the full 90 minutes of Gathered.
• Cake smash — first birthdays, gloriously messy, with the splash-bath finale on request.
• Milestones and motherhood — sitting up, walking, starting school, or simply being in the photos with your kids for once.

At home, or out in the world

Golden sessions run in whichever setting suits your crew best:

• In-home sessions — pancakes, pillow fights, book piles and bedroom cuddles. Perfect for young kids who are happiest on their own turf, and for capturing the home your family is growing up in.
• Outdoor sessions — a favourite park, the beach, or somewhere like George Pentland Gardens in Frankston. Golden-hour light, room to run, and plenty of energy to burn.

Either way, there's no pressure for anyone to perform. Toddlers who won't sit still, kids pulling faces, a baby who needs a feed mid-session — all of it is normal, and most of it ends up being the best photos.

What a Golden session looks like

• A full hour of relaxed shooting — longer if the little ones need warm-up time.
• 20 edited images, hand-picked and delivered through a private online gallery within 2 weeks.
• Gentle prompts, not poses. Games, tickles and questions that get real laughs, not "say cheese".
• Everyone welcome. Grandparents, new babies, the family dog — if they're part of your season, they belong in the photos.
• The option to upgrade to the full gallery once you've seen the set.

Where Golden sits

Sessions are grouped by how much time you want together, and Golden is the middle tier — the signature sitting, and the one most families choose. An hour is long enough for everyone to forget the camera is there, which is usually when the good photos start.

Either side of it: Glimpse is 30 minutes and 10 images from $195 if you just want the photos brought up to date, and Gathered is 90 minutes and 30+ images from $395 when you need more room — extended family, multiple set-ups or a newborn who sets the pace.
